Vertical Cable Railing Installation

Residential · Tri-Valley, CA

Most of our cable railing runs horizontally, but for this Tri-Valley project we went vertical instead — and there's a practical reason beyond the look. Some jurisdictions and homeowners prefer vertical cable specifically because it removes the "ladder effect" that horizontal runs can create, which matters most around pool fencing and any deck where small children or pets are climbing hazards. The lines still preserve the same open sightline cable is known for, just oriented top to bottom.

Structurally, the system is built the same way as our horizontal installations: 1/8″ type-316 stainless cable, tensioned and terminated with swageless fittings, rated well beyond code for lateral load. It's simply a different orientation applied where safety codes or a client's preference call for it.
