A rooftop patio in San Francisco is prime real estate for exactly one reason: the view. For this project, the goal was a guard railing that satisfied city code for a rooftop deck without competing with the skyline it was built to showcase. We installed a 1/8″ type-316 stainless patio railing system along the roofline, using a low-profile top rail and slim posts to keep as much glass — figuratively speaking — between the owners and the city as possible.
Rooftop installations also mean working around HVAC equipment, parapet walls, and tight access, so a lot of this job came down to precise on-site fabrication rather than a one-size-fits-all kit. Every post was placed and welded to fit the roof's actual layout, not a idealized version of it.
